Description
Cabin filter FILTRON K 1079
FILTRON K 1079 is a high-quality cabin filter, one of the key components of a vehicle’s ventilation system. Its purpose is to clean the air drawn from outside and delivered into the cabin, directly impacting passenger health and comfort as well as the efficiency of the ventilation and air conditioning system.
Function and structure of the cabin filter
The cabin filter is typically mounted in the cowl area – the place where outside air enters the vehicle’s ventilation system. It consists of:
special filter paper or nonwoven fabric resistant to moisture and mold,
in the activated carbon version – an additional layer that absorbs unpleasant odors and harmful gases.
The FILTRON K 1079 model is available in both standard and carbon versions (indicated with an “A” in the name, e.g. K 1079A), allowing users to choose the filter that best suits their individual needs and driving conditions.
Filtration range and user benefits
This filter effectively captures:
solid particles: dust, plant pollen, sand, asphalt particles,
mold and fungus spores,
soot, smoke, and other traffic-related pollutants,
in the activated carbon version: also harmful gaseous compounds (e.g. nitrogen oxides) and exhaust odors.
As a result, it provides:
protection of passenger health against allergens and microorganisms,
improved driving comfort – cleaner air inside the cabin,
support for the HVAC system – better air circulation and elimination of unpleasant smells.
Impact of a worn-out filter on vehicle performance
Over time, as contaminants accumulate, the cabin filter gradually becomes clogged, leading to:
reduced airflow through the vents,
increased humidity and window fogging,
decreased efficiency of air conditioning and heating,
risk of bacteria and mold growth on the filter surface.
Prolonged use of a worn-out filter can also worsen air quality inside the cabin and increase the risk of allergic reactions, headaches, fatigue, or respiratory infections.
Replacement recommendations
To ensure optimal performance of the ventilation system and healthy travel conditions:
cabin filter replacement is recommended approximately every 15,000 km or once a year,
in dusty environments (e.g. driving on dirt roads, in urban areas, or during pollen season), more frequent replacement should be considered,
the filter should be replaced according to the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations – this often doesn’t require special tools, but care should be taken not to damage any parts of the ventilation system.
