Description

Air Filter FILTRON AP 185/5

The FILTRON AP 185/5 air filter is a key component of the engine's intake system, playing an extremely important role in ensuring optimal engine performance. It consists of a housing and a replaceable filtration element, located in the air intake pipe leading to the intake manifold and from there to the engine itself. This filter cleans the air necessary for the combustion process in internal combustion engines by removing contaminants such as sand, dust, and soot. As a result, it reduces the mechanical wear of the engine, improves its performance and power, and contributes to the reduction of intake noise.

Role of the Air Filter

The air filter in a car is crucial for the proper functioning of the engine. Its main task is to remove any contaminants that could enter the engine with the air. This ensures that the engine is not subject to rapid wear, and its performance is maintained at an optimal level. A well-functioning air filter also ensures optimal cooling of the intake valves, which is necessary to keep them in good condition and prevent premature wear.

Problems with a Clogged Filter

Over time, the air filter becomes clogged with contaminants. A worn filter results in increased fuel consumption and a decrease in engine power. If the filter is completely clogged, the engine may stall, as the reduced amount of air will not be able to support the proper combustion process. Additionally, limiting the airflow can lead to improper cooling of the intake valves, which accelerates their wear.

Recommendations for Replacing the Air Filter

It is recommended to replace the air filter every 15,000–20,000 km, although the replacement interval may be shorter for vehicles used in areas with high air pollution, such as unpaved roads or industrial areas. Regular air filter replacement is crucial for maintaining the engine in good condition and ensuring its performance.

Who Should Replace the Air Filter?

Replacing the air filter is a relatively simple task, but due to the risk of contaminants entering the intake system, it is recommended to have it done by professionals. Proper installation of the air filter is essential to avoid potential engine damage and ensure adequate air filtration.
